24-Year-Old Aurora Woman Pleads Guilty to 2014 Armed Robbery

An Aurora woman is headed to prison after she pleaded guilty to unrelated armed robbery incidents in Aurora in 2014.

Fatima M. Robertson, 24, last address of the 1100 block of Liberty Street, Aurora, today agreed to a sentence of 26 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to armed robbery, a Class X felony, and attempted armed robbery, a Class 1 felony.

Associate Judge Alice Tracy accepted the plea.

ROBERTSON, FATIMAAt about 11:45 a.m. July 22, 2014, Robertson and a second person entered a business in the 1900 block of North Farnsworth Avenue. They were wearing gloves and armed with an assault-type rifle. They approached the owner of the business and demanded diamonds and gold believing they had entered an adjacent jewelry store. The second victim then came into the room and saw the first victim on his knees with the gun pointed at his head. Realizing they were in the wrong business, the robbers ordered the victims into the restroom, smashed the victims’ cell phones, took approximately $2,000 in cash and fled.

At about 10 p.m. Aug. 4, 2015, Robertson and a second person entered a business in the 400 block of Hinman Avenue, Aurora. They carried an assault-type rifle. Employees barricaded themselves in the office as Robertson attempted to break into the cash register. After several failed attempts, Robertson and her companion fled.

The sentence is 13 years on each count to be served consecutively. According to Illinois law, Robertson is eligible for day for day sentencing. She receives credit for at least 265 days served in the Kane County jail.
