Kane County Pavement Preservation to Begin Week of June 8

Kane County Pavement Preservation to Begin Week of June 8

We probably could all use a little rejuvenator now and then. Come to think of it, a cap seal probably wouldn’t hurt, either.

That’s what some Kane County roads will be getting, starting June 8, and you might want to take note if you’re traveling, just so that you know where and when to take an alternate route or “expect delays.”

Pavement Preservation work hours will be from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day for approximately the next six weeks, weather permitting. Subject to change, the roadways are scheduled to be treated in the following order:

Rejuvenator:

  • Getty Road from Harmony Road to U.S. Route 20
  • Allen Road from Harmony Road to U.S. Route 20
  • French Road from Main Street to IL Route 72
  • Rippburger/Russell Roads from Plato Road to Plank Road
  • Plato Road from IL Route 47 to Muirhead Road
  • Corron Road from Bowes Road to McDonald Road
  • McGough Road from IL Route 64 to Peplow Road
  • Mereditch Road from IL Route 38 to McNulty Road
  • Healy Road from Bliss Road to Norris Road
  • Harter Road from 520 feet west of IL Route 47 to IL Route 47

Cape Seal:

  • Fabyan Parkway from Millcreek Drive to Branson Road
  • Fabyan Parkway from Branson Road to Randall Road
  • Orchard Road from 1,100 feet north of US Route 20 to US Route 20

The rejuvenator process will include:

  • Placement of rejuvenator oil over existing pavement
  • Placement of sand over the treated roadway to absorb excess oil for 24 hours after oil application.
  • Restriping of the roadways once asphalt is completed

The cape seal process will include:

  • Placement of oil and limestone chips over existing pavement for minimum of 4 days
  • Placement of finish surface (micro surface) over the oil and limestone chips application.
  • Restriping of the roadways once asphalt is completed

The roadways being treated will remain open during the work, temporary daily lane closures Monday through Saturday will be required to accomplish this work. Please watch for fresh oil signs, flaggers, and reduced speed while traveling through the construction zone. Motorists should expect delays, increased travel times during the rejuvenator and cape seal processes and are advised to consider alternate routes during the work.
