2 Women Leaders Celebrate 50 Years With LOWV
Jamie Daniel and Lucile Little were recognized as 50-year members of the League of Women Voters at the at the Annual Dinner of the Central Kane League on May 21 at Eagle Brook Country Club.
Both women had served as president of the local league. In addition, Daniel served for seven years on the State Board — the League of Women Voters of Illinois. Little had also been president of the Kane County Council, which coordinated five leagues.
Daniel accepted the recognition in person from Jean Pierce, acting president of the Central Kane League of Women Voters. Pierce observed that during the course of the league’s history, some people have been confused by the fact that the league takes non-partisan yet political stances. She noted that 30 years ago, Daniel had been quoted as lamenting, “Republicans say, ‘You’re just all a bunch of Democrats.’ Democrats say, ‘You’re just all a bunch of Republicans.’ ”
