2015 Recycling Extravaganza Is Saturday, June 13
Last year’s June recycling extravaganza at 540 S. Randall Road in St. Charles served about 2,000 residents and collected 20,000-plus pounds of confidential documents for shredding, 36 bicycles, 14 wheeled mobility devices, eight walkers, 10 pairs of crutches and a variety of leg braces and other devices.
This year’s event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 13, at the same location.
Items for Reuse or Recycling
- Electronics (no large household appliances, “white goods” or Freon-containing appliances).
- Holiday light strings .
- Books (any age or condition).
- Bikes, bike parts, helmets, bike baskets, sewing machines.
- Mobility Devices: wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, leg braces, scooters.
- Fluorescent lamps (4-foot tubes).

- Styrofoam blocks, packing peanuts, bubble wrap. (Please bring clean sorted materials. Keep peanuts in a contained bag, separate from the rest of the material.)

Latex Paint is the only item that has a recycling fee * pe container, payable by the resident with cash or check ($3.50/gallon).
Confidential Document Destruction
- This service provides on-site shredding trucks, where you can watch your document being shredded if you wish.
- This is for residential material only, not for businesses.
- Quantity limit is four boxes or bags.
- Staples, paperclips, spiral bindings, file folders without metal, and cellophane envelope windows are fine.
- Please REMOVE all binder clips, three-ring plastic binders and any larger metal pieces.
- Please DO NOT bring periodicals, magazines, and other paper that does not contain confidential information. Those materials can go in your household recycling.
