They say that Illinois has two seasons: winter and road-construction. And that second season is just about in full swing, starting Monday.

Probably you’ve seen so many of these press releases in recent days that you might be getting inured to the warning, but this next week coming up really is a biggy, with almost 50 county roads getting paint striping starting June 8. And pavement marking is just one of the roadwork initiatives going on, starting this week, with several of the projects continuing through August and September.

While we hate the delays, we love to have our roads in shape — especially after the effects of that other season.

So, how does the Kane County Division of Transportation love thee? Let us count the ways:

• 51 County Roads Set for Pavement Marking and Paint Striping (See map below.)
• Crack Sealing Moves to (Insert Dramatic Music Here) Randall Road June 8
• Kane County Pavement Preservation to Begin Week of June 8
• Kane County Interconnects! Stearns Road Improvements Begin June 8
• Pavement Widening for Silver Glen Road Set for June 8
• Anderson Road in Elburn to be Closed Starting June 2
• Cold-in-Place Recycling Begins Week of June 1

And these projects are in addition to some major IDOT work on Route 38 and Route 31 in Geneva and Illinois Tollway work in Elgin and on I-88. So, as they say, expect delays.

The annual Kane County Pavement Marking Program work will begin the week of June 8, 2015, weather permitting. The work shall include installation of urethane and paint pavement makings onto county highways as indicated on the attached map. This work is anticipated to be completed by the end of August, weather dependent.

Temporary daily lane closures will be required Monday through Friday to accomplish this work. Please watch for workers, equipment on the roadway and shoulders, anticipate increased travel times and exercise caution while traveling in freshly painted areas.
