The first Tail Waggin’ Tuesday of the season will be held June 9 at The Depot on River Street in East Dundee. Trick dog “Happy Jack,” featured on both ABC and WGN news and dubbed “The Best Trick Dog Ever,” will perform at both 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dog owners are invited to join in the fun by transforming their pooch into a costume posing as any famous “Jack” character.

Tail Waggin’ Tuesdays are held on the second Tuesdays of the month through September and feature demonstrations, entertainment, pet services/products vendors, raffles and hot dogs from a caboose at Dundee Depot Dogs. Each month will highlight a different theme.  July will celebrate French Bastille Day with a pet parade and all things French. In August, East Dundee will honor those that have served as part of K9 Units or military and lastly September will focus on Dundee’s German, Irish and Scottish heritage.

This popular family-friendly event was first introduced last year and attracted hundreds of dogs throughout the summer. The Depot, located at 319 N. River St. transverses the Fox River Trail where numerous dog owners exercise their favorite canine.  East Dundee has created special water fountains for dogs and boasts “Park Your Pet” signs throughout the downtown district for convenient restaurant pick-up service.

“We have embraced what is naturally occurring every day in our downtown district,” said Village Administrator Bob Skurla. “It’s fun to see all the different breeds come and enjoy the event with their owners.”

Event hours are 5 p.m. until dusk. In the event of rain, special entertainment acts can be seen on another Tail Waggin’ Tuesday night.

Sit, stay and be ready to join in the fun.
