Bridge Removal: 3 Months of Road Closure on Walker Road Starts June 15
We’re removing a bridge, just FYI.
The Walker Road over Burlington Creek Bridge Replacement program is scheduled to begin the week of June 15, 2015, weather permitting, with an anticipated duration of approximately three months.
The program consists of bridge removal, new bridge installation, approach slab construction, pavement removal and reconstruction, placement of embankment, shoulder construction, guardrail installation, placement of pavement marking, landscaping and all incidental and collateral work necessary to complete the project.
This work will require a full road closure on Walker Road at Burlington Creek, located between Illinois Route 72 and Allen Road. A posted detour route will direct traffic around the closure using Illinois Route 72, State Street, and Allen Road. Local access to homes and businesses located within the construction zone will be maintained during this work. The public is advised to follow the posted detour route around the project and to expect increased travel times.
