Burlington Open Air Market Season Begins June 13
The Burlington Business Council is excited to greet the second season of the Burlington Open Air Markets on Water Street behind the Old Second Bank in Burlington.
“Last year was our first attempt at these events, and it had been declared a success!” said Mary Lake, one of the event organizers. “This year, we are joined with many of the vendors from last year, and we have added a few different ones.”
The venue offers produce by Troggs Hollow, which is a small farm from Poplar Grove. Hand crafts by Gaga Gems, and Rugs n More of Sycamore. There will be the introduction of a mobile fitness center presented by Pound4Pound from Elburn. Juice Plus will be there, with their food and nutrition information. This year’s markets include plants and honey from local providers.
The Friends of Burlington will be selling cut-rate Fourth of July novelties.
“You will not find these LED type objects anywhere at these prices!” Lake said. “Hurry because they may not be available at the July 3 celebration!”
Organizers are working to make each market more interactive and are looking forward to having new artists joining the monthly events this year. Artists will be bringing five or six canvases and allowing first come, first serve participants to paint and keep an object. The project is anticipated to take around an hour.
Entertainment is on the agenda, with the return of Kim Natale and Toast.
“This was great fun last year, and we are glad to share this again,” Lake said. “Tables and chairs will be available to grab a doughnut and coffee, enjoy the environment and support the little guys that work hard to bring good things to us.”
