The release said detectives allowed Lechuga to pick up the package at the Transportation Center, then take it to his residence at 743 Superior St. in Aurora. Detectives took Lechuga into custody at his residence and seized items in his possession, including 4.67 pounds of heroin, $7,600 in cash and a .22 caliber handgun.

The release said the heroin had a street value of $2.1 million.

Lechuga was transported to the Kane County Adult Justice Center. His bond was set at $5 million, and his next court date is 9 a.m. June 24 in Room 319 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

This is the second significant case conducted by the Sheriff’s Office in the past two weeks. Last week, six individuals were charged in connection to a large-scale credit card fraud operation.

The charges against the Lechuga are not proof of guilt.  A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the state’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
