The Kane County Bar Association has selected Gregory C. Maksimuk to serve as its next president. Maksimuk was sworn into office on June 11 and begins his active duties in July.

Maksimuk works on all aspects of family law, but concentrates on complicated, high-net financial matters for C-suite executives, business owners and their spouses, navigating through complex financial issues regarding their estates and business interests. He is equally skilled in resolving complex custody and visitation matters.

“I am very excited to begin my term as president of the Kane County Bar Association,” said Maksimuk. “This organization has a long tradition of serving its members with tremendous quality, and I am looking forward to bringing its benefits to the forefront of the Association.”

Still, Maksimuk believes the association can improve upon how it delivers its purpose to members, which will inevitably improve membership experience. Specifically, he wants to see an increased effort in volunteer service, greater internal technological efficiency, and an expansion in networking and sponsorship efforts.

“I plan to hit the ground running,” said Maksimuk. “In addition to my goal to enhance the membership experience, I am exploring alternative sources of revenue, including expanding membership.”

Previously, Maksimuk served as both the vice president and secretary/treasurer for the Kane County Bar Association, which honored him with its Outstanding New Lawyer award in 2008. In addition, he is a member of the DuPage County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association, and also served on the Assembly for the ISBA, which is the supreme policy-making body of the organization.

The Orland Park native received his bachelor’s degree from Bradley University where he majored in business administration and management, with a concentration on legal studies in business, and minored in economics. After earning his J.D. from the John Marshall Law School, he joined Schiller DuCanto & Fleck in 2011, the nation’s largest law firm focusing exclusively on family law. Though the firm is based in Chicago, Maksimuk works out of the Wheaton office and is a very active member of the legal communities in Chicago’s western suburbs.
