‘Toodaloo, Clint’: Batavia ‘Bachelorette’ Contestant Eliminated in Week 4
Clint Arlis, the Batavia High School grad, Chicago architect and avid fisherman who was one of the bachelors in this season’s installment of The Bachelorette television show on ABC, is officially out of the running.
Arlis had a little more than his 15 minutes of fame in the show, and he might be the only contestant people remember a year from now. As I said before, I’m not good at this popular culture analysis, so please bear with me.
As I understand it, the controversy involved Arlis’ “bromance” with fellow contestant JJ. The zap2it website (whatever that is) described it as “trumped up friendship for the sake of dramatic promos” and the issue came to a head on Monday’s (June 8) Bachelorette.
My personal conclusion, based solely on an Internet search, is that Arlis was in love with a fish. You rarely see a non-Bachelorette photo of him without a recently-caught bass in hand.
In her blog on People magazine’s website (forgive me), the bachelorette, Kaitlyn Bristowe, said “there were just too many red flags with Clint. He was great on our one-on-one date but terrible in a group setting. And I really need a guy who can hang and be social in big groups of people. Clint definitely struggled with that. And no one except for JJ had nice things to say about him.”
Twitter was in fine form during Arlis’ departure.
Apparently, there was an awkward moment on Monday’s episode, when JJ asked Clint for an apology and they “almost came to blows.”
“Toodaloo, Clint,” Bristowe said. “At least we’ll always have that drawing of Chris Harrison riding a triceratops!”
Whatever that means.
