What to Do With An Injured Wild Animal in Kane County — And More FAQs From KCAC
Kane County Animal Control recently updated its website, and it’s full of valuable information for Kane County residents. One of the cool new features is the FAQ Page, which gives you a quick reference point for everything from what to do if a wild animal enters your yard to where to look if your dog is lost.

Q: I have a squirrel/raccoon/opossum in or around my house. Will you remove it for me?
A: KCAC primarily manages domestic animals. If a wild animal is trapped somewhere in your house or on your property, you must contact a licensed nuisance wildlife removal service to have the animal removed. You can find a list of these service providers here.

Q: I have a baby rabbit/injured bird in my yard. Who should I call?
A: Injured wildlife should be handled by a local wildlife rehabilitator. For information about specific animals, check the Flint Creek Wildlife Center website, or call at 847-842-8000. In the southern part of the county, you can call the Fox Valley Wildlife Center at 630-365-3800.
Q: There’s a bat in my house. Will you remove it for me?
A: KCAC offers removal and rabies testing of bats to citizens of Kane County at no cost. If you have a bat in your house, or in a location where someone may have been bitten without realizing it, call KCAC at 630-232-3555 to make arrangements to have the bat tested.
