About Tyler Creek Forest Preserve
The site is characterized by Tyler Creek and its floodplain with Oak-Hickory forests on the steep slopes. The Forest Preserve Staff has begun a habitat restoration program for the site resulting in the appearance of a number of rare plants. The site has been used by the Staff for spring wildflower walks for the enjoyment and education of the public. The Tyler Creek extension of the bike trail was installed in 1991 and has become a popular starting point for trail users.
Tyler Creek is located at the intersection of Route 31 and Davis Road in Elgin. A creek runs through the preserves. This preserve has hiking trails, ball diamonds, and an excellent picnic area.
