Mosquitoes: More Than Meets the Compound Eye

Mosquitoes: More Than Meets the Compound Eye

A swarm of mosquitos - grab the bug spray! 3D render.

Bloodsucking terrorists or misunderstood arthropods?

You decide.

Learn about mosquitoes during this fun nature program from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Binnie Forest Preserve.

Mosquitoes are undoubtedly our most unpopular native insects. They’re swatted and smashed, sprayed and fumigated. But have you ever stopped to look at one up close? This evening program of catching and observing these nocturnal insects will have you itching to know more about the important role they play in ecology. You’ll use magnifiers and bug boxes to look at them and play a “mosquito game” as well.

Advanced registration is required. Call 630-444-3190 or email programs@kaneforest.com to register. Registration is $2 per person.

Binnie Forest Preserve is located at 38W040 Binnie Road, West Dundee.
