Police Seek Info on 14 Vehicle Burglaries

Aurora Police are seeking information on multiple vehicle burglaries that occurred on the Near West Side during the overnight hours of June 29 going into June 30.

The 14 vehicles were all unlocked and the majority were parked in the street in the 500 block of Plum Street, 400 and 500 blocks of Highland Avenue and the 500 and Aurora Police Department Logo600 blocks of North May Street. Tools, electronics, and miscellaneous items worth a total of more than $4500 were taken. Many of the vehicles were ransacked, but nothing appeared to be stolen.

Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora Police Investigators at 630-256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000. Callers to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to any arrests. Tips can also be submitted through the Aurora Police Department’s free app available through iTunes, the Android Market, or Amazon App Store. Simply search for “My Police Department”, find the Aurora Police, and download.

Police are again reminding residents of the importance of locking vehicles and either stowing anything of value out of sight, or taking the items with them. Following these simple tips takes the opportunity away from a vehicle burglar to commit a crime.
