SUMMER FUN SPOTLIGHT: St. Charles Summer Concerts in the Park Series

One of the many things that makes Kane County so great in the summertime is the array of free entertainment opportunities. There’s something going on virtually every night of the week in virtually every community, so we’ll spotlight some of those for you on occasion.

In St. Charles, Thursday is the night to be out and about.

The St. Charles Park District brings the summer Concerts in the Park series to St. Charles’ historic downtown for families and friends to enjoy the great outdoors and some fabulous music. The next concert performance will feature Mason Rivers at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at the Lincoln Park Gazebo, located along Main Street between 4th and 5th Streets in St. Charles.

Mason-RiversBandMason Rivers is billed as “a high-energy band that ROCKS country! Big vocals, big sound and your favorite songs make this entertaining group a sure crowd pleaser that covers the best of today’s country with the finest musical talent in the Chicago area. For more info, you can visit the band’s website at masonrivers.com.

Next week,  Mr. Myers is on tap for the free concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 16.

Blending the tropical sounds of calypso and ska, the rhythms of reggae and a little rock-n-roll, this band offers everything from your favorite classic tunes to their own special style of music – Caribbean Rock. Their unique combination of musical styles may be difficult to define and perhaps challenging to play, but it never fails to entertain audiences everywhere, young and old! Visit the band’s website at mrmyers.com for more information.

You are encouraged to bring family and friends — and lawn chairs and blankets — for a picnic in the park or enjoy picnic-style offerings at reasonable rates from downtown St. Charles restaurants. A couple of quick tips: Guests are encouraged to get to the park early for better seating, and alcohol is not permitted in the park, so plan accordingly.

This concert series is free thanks to generous support of numerous local businesses including Costco, WBK Associates, Ltd.; Bickford Assisted Living and Memory Care; Nationwide – Julien Insurance Agency, Inc.; Culver’s St. Charles, Marshall Architects; Banner Up Signs of Sycamore; Blooming Color; Onesti Entertainment; and the Kane County Chronicle.
