2015 Fiestas Patrias Celebrates Hispanic Sounds, Cultures and Tastes Sept. 13
The Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board in conjunction with the city of Aurora invites everyone in Kane County to participate in the 2015 Fiestas Patrias, set for Sept. 13 at RiverEdge Park in downtown Aurora.
The Fiestas Patrias celebrates the sound, culture and taste of Mexico, Spain, the Caribbean and Central and South America. From the delicious foods to the variety of musical acts to the children’s play area, there is something for everyone.
“We welcome the participation of businesses, church groups, non-profit organizations, youth groups, schools and community organizations,” organizers said in a press release. “It is a great way to share in community spirit, thus learning about the rich Hispanic cultural heritage.”
The parade is scheduled on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, and kicks off at Benton and River Street at 11 a.m. going north on Broadway Street, west on Downer Place and ends at River Street. The Parade Reviewing Stand will be in front of the David L. Pierce Art and History Center at 20 East Downer Place.
Special recognition is given to the parade unit that best represents Hispanic culture and traditions.
