Concours D’Elegance Rolls Into Geneva Aug. 22-23

With the popular Concours d’Elegance car show rolling into Geneva on Sunday, Aug. 23, the Geneva Police Department announced several downtown streets will be closed to traffic and parking this weekend.

“No Parking” signage will be posted by officers during daytime hours Saturday, Aug. 22 with restrictions taking effect at midnight. Event organizers and their staff will begin staging the show early Aug. 23. Vehicles that are left in posted unauthorized parking areas risk being towed.

Downtown streets that will be designated as “No Parking” and will be closed to traffic for the event are:

  • Third Street – from State to South streets;
  • James Street – from Third to Fourth streets;
  • Campbell Street – from Second to Fifth streets;
  • Franklin Street – from Second to Fourth streets;
  • Fulton Street – from Second to Fourth streets; and
  • Fourth Street – from Franklin to Campbell streets.

Additional roads may be closed for parking as well to provide efficient and safe travel through residential streets.

Route 31 should be used as the primary north and south roadway through downtown Geneva during the car show. Free event parking will be available in the Third Street Commuter Parking deck and the lots surrounding the Metra train station.

The Concours d’Elegance will showcase some of the finest antique, classic and modern automobiles from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 23. South Third Street is expected to reopen for traffic and parking no later than 7 p.m. that night. For more information about the event, visit www.genevaconcours.net.

About the Concours D’Elegance

Classic Car enthusiasts will gathered together again this year in Geneva, IL, to view a beautiful collection of antique, classic and modern automobiles. Participants from all over the country will display their prized automobiles on Third Street hoping to be awarded one of the coveted “Benz” Trophies.

For 2015, the event will feature cars orphaned when their manufacturers went out of business, including Jaguars and police cars, and in honor of the 60th anniversary of Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin’s Road America Race Track, the Concours D’Elegance will feature race cars that were built in 1955 or earlier.

Third Street is the heart of Geneva’s charming downtown shopping district lined with shops, restaurants, parks and historical buildings. This event was open to the public at no cost making this a wonderful family event with something for everyone to enjoy and marvel. The Geneva Concours d’Elegance is your only opportunity in the area to view this fantastic collection of award-winning, unique and rare automobiles.
