Kane County has the seventh-lowest number of sex offenders per capita, according to data provided by Homefacts, a website dedicated to providing information for people interested in home buying.

The Homefacts stats were recently updated based on data from the Illinois sex offender registry.

According to the website, there are 21.63 sex offenders per 10,000 people in Illinois, which is more than the national average of 14.3. Kane County’s average of 5.93 ranks as the seventh-lowest in Illinois.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office provides excellent online resources to find out more about sex offenders in your area, including the option to receive an email notification whenever an offender registers within one mile of an address of your choosing. You can often find local sex-offender data on your community’s police department webpages. The Illinois Sex Offender Registry was created in response to the Illinois Legislature’s determination to facilitate access to publicly available information about persons convicted of sex offenses.
