Offered by state Rep. Steve Andersson and presented by Regional Superintendent Patricia Dal Santo, Collins was honored for his decades of contributions to Kane County and Geneva Community School District 304.

Collins joined District 304 in 1986 and served as the principal of Geneva Community High School until 2000. He then joined the district office until he retired in 2015.

Before his retirement, Collins was nominated for the Kane County Educator of the Year award.

“It is not uncommon that Educator the Year nominees go on to be recognized at the state level,” said Regional Superintendent Dal Santo. “Craig’s dedication to his county and district made him an essential part of our community. He is a founding member of the Kane County Human Resources Consortium, also known as teachinkane.org. This cooperative started in 2002 and is dedicated to the recruitment, selection, and professional growth of quality educators across all nine districts.”

Below is a never-before-published glimpse into Craig Collin’s commitment to education. This interview was filmed by the ROE as part of the presentation for the 40th annual Educator of the Year ceremony that took place May 1.
