Tornado Watch in Place Until 10PM Tuesday

Kane County is under a Tornado Watch is in place until 10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, according to an alert by the National Weather Service.

Thunderstorms are expected, the strongest of which may produce wind gusts of 60 mph, small hail, frequent lightning and heavy downpours with localized flooding.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon, mainly south of Interstate 80, but more widespread thunderstorms are expected to increase early this evening across Northern Illinois. The Tornado Watch includes Kane, DuPage, McHenry, Will, Grundy, Kendall and Kankakee counties, among others.

Thunderstorms are possible again on Wednesday, Aug. 19, and some could be severe. They are expected to return again Saturday night into Sunday.
