Big Event Saturday? CASA Kane County’s Fox Valley Kids Marathon
There’s a ton of stuff going on in Kane County this weekend, but maybe none more fun, rewarding or full of joy as CASA Kane County’s KIDS marathon in St. Charles.
CASA Kane County is the title sponsor of Saturday’s event, in partnership with the Fox Valley KIDS Marathon for the fourth year in a row.
Children ages 4 to 14 walk or run one mile at a time on their own with adult supervision 25 times over the summer and record their mileage in log sheets. On Race Day (Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015), youth runners complete their final 1.2 miles along with hundreds of other kids to earn a finisher’s medal and call themselves Marathoners!
The KIDS Marathon starts and finishes at 1st Street and Illinois Street in St. Charles at 3 p.m. sharp on Saturday, Sept. 19. Spectators are urged to join this family friendly event and help cheer on local youth athletes at the celebratory finish capping off a summer of training for a total of 26.2 miles.
CASA Kane County is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the Juvenile Court system. Fox Valley Marathon Statement
The Fox Valley Marathon is VERY honored and pleased to announce our 2015 Sponsor, CASA KANE COUNTY. CASA Kane County is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the Juvenile Court system. Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian volunteers are ordinary people doing extraordinary things to serve over 500 children in our abuse/neglect and probate courts each year.
CASA volunteers are everyday citizens appointed by judges to advocate for the safety and well-being of children who have been removed from their homes due to parental abuse and neglect. They stand up for our children and make a difference one child at a time. This is a program that fits in well with our philosophy at the Fox Valley Marathon. We believe that we can make a difference in a child’s health and wellness with participation in our program. One child at a time … and in our case, running one mile at a time to improved fitness and grow up into a healthy active adult!
