‘It’s Our River’: Celebrate the Fox River Sept. 19 in Algonquin

Come celebrate the beautiful Fox River at the annual “It’s Our River Day” event and clean-up from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19.

Sponsored by the village of Algonquin and the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, this FREE family-friendly event will be held at Cornish Park in downtown Algonquin (South Harrison Street and Route 62). Parking is available in the municipal parking lot at South Harrison Street and Washington Street, and on street parking throughout the neighborhood.

“It’s Our River Day” aims to educate residents about how they can help preserve and protect natural resources. A variety of environmental and outdoor groups, government agencies and green businesses will have informational booths and activities, and brief presentations will also be given by local environmental groups throughout the afternoon.

The Kane County Division of Environmental & Water Resources will have a table at the event with informational materials from the Clean Water for Kane campaign. There will also be a Fox River clean-up organized by the Sierra Club that begins at 2 p.m.

Please see the event flyer for a list of participating organizations and a schedule of events.
