Meet Patricia Dal Santo, First Female President of Illinois Regional Superintendents

  • Editor’s Note: This is the second of Kane County Connects’ “Someone You Should Know” series, which we hope will be a fun way to introduce you to Kane County people who contribute mightily — and quite often behind the scenes — to enhance the quality of life in our communities. This article was written by Ellen Kamps of the Kane County Regional Office of Education.

As a former teacher, Regional Superintendent Patricia Dal Santo knows what it takes to improve education for the students of Illinois.

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, Dal Santo was recognized by Kane County Board Chairman Chris Lauzen for her work as president of the Illinois Association of Regional School Superintendents from 2013-2015.

Regional Superintendent Dal Santo is the first female IARSS president in the 150 year history of the organization.

During her time as president, Dal Santo navigated through the consolidation of ROEs, adopted a statewide iPad app for inspecting school buildings, and helped establish Illinois Vision 20/20 to facilitate quality public education statewide.

She rebranded the IARSS organization with an updated logo, marketing materials and created an intuitive, responsive website to better assist community members.

She presently serves the IARSS organization in the position of past president.

For her work with IARSS and the ROE, she has been recognized with the Crystal Star Award of Excellence in Student Dropout Recovery and was also named as one of the Kane County Chronicle’s Everyday Heroes in 2014.
