Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 23, as part of the Illinois Department of Transportation’s ongoing construction project, Gilbert Street will be closed for approximately six weeks.

During this closure, there will be no access to and from Gilbert Street from IL Route 25. Through traffic on IL Route 25 and Stearns Road will not be affected. This closure is necessary to construct the new Gilbert Street intersection pavement as the new pavement will be several feet lower than the existing roadway.

Motorists affected by this closure are advised to follow the posted detour, pay attention to any flaggers and exercise caution while traveling near the work area.

Any questions or concerns may be directed to Tom Costello, of the Illinois Department of Transportation, at 224-281-4126.
