IDOT: Lanes Close Wednesday on IL 72 Over Burlington Creek in Kane County
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that Illinois 72 (Higgins Road) over Burlington Creek, near Walker Road, in unincorporated Kane County, will be restricted to one lane in each direction, controlled by temporary traffic signals, for bridge deck repairs, beginning, weather permitting, Wednesday, Sept. 16.
In order to complete the work, vehicles crossing the bridge will be restricted to a 12-foot width.
The project will be complete, weather permitting, by Oct. 31.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
The work is part of a $1.55 million bridge project in Hampshire Township. The project consists of bridge removal, new bridge, approach slab construction, pavement removal and reconstruction, placement of embankment, shoulder construction, guardrail installation, placement of pavement marking, landscaping and all other incidental items to complete the work on Walker Road over Burlington Creek in Hampshire.
