The village of Montgomery will host its 12th annual 5k and 10K River Run at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. The Montgomery 5K and 10K River Run are USA Track and Field certified with computerized race results provided by Race Time, a premier race management service provider in northern Illinois. The race will start and finish at Village Hall (200 North River Street Montgomery, IL 60538).  Race day registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

The race takes place on both sides of the scenic Fox River through landscaped parks and residential areas. Awards will be given to the first two male and first two female finishers in the age categories of: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, 71+, as well as overall male and overall female winners. Awards will be presented inside Village Hall in the Community Room around 10:30 a.m.

There will be several area vendors set-up prior to and after the race for participants and their families to visit. Chiro One Wellness Center, CVS Health Minute Clinic, Midwest Healthcare and Physical Therapy and the Montgomery Rotary Club just to name a few.

Same-day race registration for the 5K is $30 for adults and $15 for children while the 10K is $45 for adults and $25 for children. Children under three are free for both races.

A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Montgomery VFW Post #7452 and to the Montgomery Foundation.
