Auditions for Mary Poppins Set for Oct. 26 at Prisco Center
Auditions for the Winter Stage production of the hit Broadway musical Mary Poppins will be held on Monday, Oct. 26, at the Prisco Community Center (150 W. Illinois Ave.) – and it’s not just for teenagers.
“We’re inviting performers of all ages – from 6 to 70 – but we especially have a lot of fun roles for young children,” said performing arts manager Kyle Donahue.
Auditions will begin at 6 p.m. Candidates are asked to prepare an audition song from the selections provided at Prisco or online at foxvalleyparkdistrict.org. A free informational meeting for those interested in learning more about performance details and opportunities will be held at Prisco on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m.
“It doesn’t matter if you’ve been onstage before,” said Donahue. “Everybody has special talents and we’re excited to feature all sorts of performers in this timeless production. It’s a fun show for the whole family, with lots of stage time, singing and dancing.”
Famous songs from the classic Disney film include “Spoonsful of Sugar,” “Step in Time,” “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”
Mary Poppins features everybody’s favorite nanny, who teaches her adopted family how to value each other again through a combination of magic and common sense. It’s an enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs, breathtaking dance numbers and astonishing stagecraft.
Rehearsals begin Nov. 3, with four performances scheduled Jan. 8–10 at the Prisco Community Center. For more information, call 630-859-8606.
