CASA’s $600,000 Courthouse Office Expansion Complete
CASA Kane County has completed a $600,000 office expansion project funded by generous donors and sub-contractors who gave of their treasures, time and services.
In a press release issued this week, CASA noted that the project was concurrent with an elevator rehab at the historic courthouse in Geneva and that the office expansion made use of an unoccupied area in the building. The renovation gets the office space up to date with fire codes and “will serve the organization’s needs and best interests” for years to come.
CASA also underlined that the renovation could not have happened without help from the Dunham Fund, the Shodeen Family Foundation and other donors.
Vicki Morcos, partnership officer with the Dunham Fund, said her organization was happy to provide a challenge grant for CASA to expand its offices to better serve abuse and neglected children throughout Kane County.
“CASA Kane County raised $100,000 in a short time from many very generous supporters, and because of their dedication to the organization, was able to receive the full $100,000 from the Dunham Fund,” Morcos said.
Anna Harmon from the Shodeen Family Foundation was also among one of the supporters of the project.
“The Shodeen Foundation feels blessed to be able to provide support,” she said. “This new space will be a great asset to the staff so they can better serve the children and families that CASA helps by providing additional privacy, dignity and respect. It’s a great feeling to be able to help CASA Kane County, so they can continue to do the good works they do in the community.”
An open house reception was held on Thursday, Oct. 15, to celebrate the completion of the project and thank the donors listed above. At this event, staff were able to give tours and thank attendees in person. Gloria Bunce, executive director of CASA Kane County, publicly thanked everyone who made the project possible.
“I am truly humbled by the generosity of this community,” she said. “There are no words to describe how thankful we are for the additional space. A lot of individuals and groups came together to help make our dream a reality, and the ones who will truly benefit are the children we serve.”
