We asked Kane County Connects readers early in the season which Chicago baseball team would have the best year. Of the 508 people who took the poll, 66 percent said the Cubs. Well done!

Now comes the hard question: How far will the Cubs get in the playoffs? Will it be one-and-done in Wednesday night’s single-elimination game against the Pirates? Will they survive that game and defeat their longtime rivals, the St. Louis Cardinals? Will they win the National League pennant?

Or will they at last find the Holy Grail and come home to a ticker-tape parade as World Series champions? (That last one’s hard even for me to imagine.)
