Sheriff’s Office: Suspicious Vehicle Reported Near Big Rock Middle School

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents to a report of a suspicious vehicle hanging around a Big Rock middle school.

According to a press release sent at around 4:44 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, a student at Big Rock Middle School reported that several times over the past two weeks, after school, the student observed a full-size white van driving in the Big Rock area near the intersection of Rhodes and Jefferson.

Sheriff's badge SMALLWhen student was walking home, the vehicle would slow down and the driver of the van would smile at the student. The front seat passenger would also smile and wave at the student, reports said. The student did not recognize the vehicle or men.

The last time the vehicle was seen was on Oct. 9.

The student described both men as male whites. The driver is in his 30s with short black hair.  The passenger was older, wearing a beret, and did not have front teeth, according to the press release.

Sheriff’s deputies will be increasing patrols in the Big Rock area. Anyone seeing a vehicle matching this description should call 911.
