Silver Glen, County Line Get Culvert Improvements, Starting Monday Oct. 19
Silver Glen Road is one of those important arteries that run west-to-east from IL Route 47, through Campton Township all the way to Kane County’s east border and beyond. West County Line Road is, as you might guess, the north-south road that marks the county line between Kane County and DeKalb County to the west.
Though relatively far apart and heading in different directions, the two have something in common, starting Monday (Oct. 19, 2015) and for the next a month-and-a-half.
During that time, Silver Glen and West County Line Road are going to be part of culvert improvement program that will require temporary daily lane closures. The work will be done between the hours of 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday at various culvert locations.
While the majority of the work will occur in the right of way adjacent to the road, motorists should watch for equipment entering and leaving the work zone. The contractor will begin work on West County Line Road for three to four weeks, then move to the Silver Glen site to complete the project.
The improvements will occur at the following locations:
- Silver Glen Road from Weybridge Drive to Brierwood Drive
- West County Line Road from I-88 to Harter Road
The culvert improvement process will include:
- Insertion of lining, installation of metal flared end sections, rip rap and fence replacement to the existing 48-inch culvert on Silver Glen Road.
- Insertion of lining, installation of metal flared end sections, and restoration to the existing 24-inch culvert on West County Line Road.
Local access to homes and businesses located within the construction zone will be maintained during this work. Motorists should watch for flaggers and construction equipment entering and leaving the work zone, expect delays, increased travel times during the construction process, and are advised to consider alternate routes during the work.
