State Budget Stalemate Puts Urgency Into 2015 Walk for Hope

Mutual Ground of Aurora, a local domestic violence shelter and sexual assault center, invites you to support their cause and raise awareness of domestic violence at their 8th annual Walk for Hope on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at Fabyan Forest Preserve in Geneva.

Screen Shot 2015-10-05 at 7.57.12 AMWalk for Hope is Mutual Ground’s largest fundraising event of the year with more than 250 walkers and 25 sponsors. Every dollar raised helps Mutual Ground provide services essential to victims’ recovery. This year’s Walk for Hope is even more important to the sustainability of Mutual Ground, because as of today the state of Illinois has still not balanced the budget, leaving Mutual Ground and other agencies short the funding they receive from the Illinois Department of Human Services.

The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. and walker registration starts at 8 a.m. Friends, families and friendly dogs are welcome to join walkers or cheer for their favorite team. To register for the event, please visit the Walk for Hope page on the Mutual Ground website.

Mutual Ground relies on the generosity of communities and individuals to continue improving the lives of those who seek domestic violence and sexual assault services for their agency. There is still time to create or join a team or donate to a current walker by visiting www.mutualground.org. Businesses interested in sponsoring this event may contact Michelle at 630-897-0084 ext. 101.

Mutual Ground supports victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Kendall and Southern Kane counties by providing counseling, education, housing, legal and family services.  More information regarding Mutual Ground’s mission and services can be found at www.mutualground.org.
