UPDATE: Aurora Police ID Man Who Died Thursday in Passenger Train Bathroom

Update Friday, Oct. 15

Aurora police have released the identity of the man who was found deceased Thursday afternoon in a bathroom on board a Metra passenger train on the Burlington Northern Line at the downtown Aurora Transportation Center, 233 N. Broadway Ave.

No foul play is suspected in the death of Adam Castilla, 25, of the 13000 block of Meadow Lakes Drive, Plainfield. Police believe Castilla’s death to be narcotics-related based on information gleaned in the investigation so far.

Castilla was found at about 1:45 p.m. by railroad personnel who were doing checks of the rail cars after everyone has exited the outbound train from Chicago. When one of the workers was checking the train’s second car, he noticed the bathroom door was locked. When he knocked on the door he received no response so he unlocked it and was able to open it far enough to see Castilla inside. The door was eventually removed in an attempt to render aid to Castilla but he had already died. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:27 p.m. It is not known where Castilla boarded the train.

An autopsy on Castilla was performed today (Friday, Oct. 16, 2015) at the Kane County Coroner’s Office.

Detectives from the Burlington Northern Railroad the Kane County Coroner’s Office assisted Aurora police.
