Algonquin

Holiday Rock on the Fox in Algonquin

  • When: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015
  • Where: Village of Algonquin, Riverfront Park

  • Description: Catch Santa at Algonquin’s annual “Holiday Rock on the Fox. There are plenty of family activities, including holiday music, carolers and much more. Santa will be there for the tree lighting and to listen to the children’s wishes.

Aurora

Holiday Open House at Aurora Library

  • When: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015

Batavia

Celebration of Lights Festival

  • When: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015 (tree lighting at 6 p.m.)
  • Where: Peg Bond Center / Riverwalk in downtown Batavia

  • Description: A performance by the Batavia Community Band under the direction of John Heath. Free hayrides with food or $1 cash donation. (Proceeds go directly benefit the Batavia Food Pantry.) Free roasted chestnuts, a family photo opportunity, hot dogs and hot chocolate for sale, a community sing-a-long led by Craig Foltos, Foltos Tonsorial Parlor and the arrival of Santa all are part of the fun

East Dundee

East Dundee Tree Lighting Ceremony

  • When: 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2015
  • Where: The Depot, 319 River Street, East Dundee, IL 60118

  • Description: Join East Dundee officials for the lighting of the Village Christmas tree and the joyful sounds of the Dundee-Crown Chamber Choir. Immediately following the tree lighting, Santa will arrive on a fire truck to greet families and their children. Take pictures with Santa in The Depot with hot chocolate and cider provided by volunteers of the Dundee Township Visitor’s Center.

Elgin

Elgin Tree Lighting

  • Description: The City of Elgin will be kicking off the holiday season with its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Mayor David Kaptain, City Council Members, and Santa Claus will turn on the holiday tree lights. Bring the whole family out and help welcome Santa to town. Geneva

Geneva Christmas Walk and Tree Lighting

    Description: Tis the season to be jolly … especially in downtown Geneva! The festivities begin at 6 p.m. with the arrival of Santa Lucia, the first candy cane of the season, and Santa lighting the great tree – and continue with roasted chestnuts, strolling carolers, a live nativity and free carriage rides on Saturday and Sunday.

Huntley

Huntley Holiday Lights Parade & Christmas on the Square

  • Description: A Very Merry Huntley is a two-day event, starting Friday. There will be hot cocoa, the festivities include carolers, kids crafts, visits with Mrs. Claus in the old Village Hall and much more.

Montgomery

Tree Lighting Ceremony in Montgomery

  • When:  5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015
  • Where: Village Hall at 200 N. River Street in Montgomery

  • Description: The event will kick off as students from local grade schools decorate the Village Christmas tree with handmade ornaments, followed by the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus in fire trucks with sirens blaring. After the lighting of the Christmas tree, children can visit Santa and take photos inside the Village Hall while everyone enjoys musical numbers performed by the students outside on the Park District’s Sound Stage. Free hot cocoa and cookies will be provided throughout the evening by the GMACC. Be sure to dress for the weather and bring your camera!

Mooseheart

Santa Visits Holiday Lights at Mooseheart

  • When: 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 and 18; Saturday, Dec 12 and 19; Sunday, Dec. 13 and 20
  • Where: Mooseheart Child City & School, two miles north of I-88 west on IL Route 31

  • Description: Last year, more than 10,000 vehicles drove the 1.8-mile route that winds through Mooseheart’s campus and past more than dozens of lights displays in what is one of Chicagoland’s largest holiday light shows. The show runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. every night and the cost remains $10 per car. 3-D glasses are available for $3.

North Aurora

Messenger Library’s Holiday Open House in North Aurora

  • Description: Holiday in the Grove is a festive community event that includes Breakfast with Santa and many other holiday activities throughout the day in Sugar Grove, Illinois. Holiday in the Grove was established to continue to run the Sugar Grove Community Christmas festival. Several community members have volunteered to step in and continue the tradition for our community. This event is held on the first Saturday of December each year.

West Dundee

West Dundee Tree Lighting Ceremony and Spirit of Christmas Parade
