Election 2016: Candidates Start Filing Petitions Monday for March 15 Primary
Sometimes, we don’t think about elections until about 24 hours before we have to make a vote, but the election process is right now in full swing.
On Monday, candidates for elected office in Kane County will start filing their nominating petitions. That process starts Monday, Nov. 23, and continues through Monday, Nov. 30, 2015.
The Kane County Clerk’s Office website KaneCountyElections.org is a great resource for election information, and with the March 15 primary coming up, there’s a whole timeline of events to be aware of and to get you ready to vote.
The website includes information in Spanish as well as English.
General Primary, March 15, 2016
Circulating Petitions: Started Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015
Candidates Filing: Monday, Nov. 23 through Monday, Nov. 30, 2015
Last Day to Register to Vote: Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016
Grace Period Registration: (These dates ONLY at Kane County Elections Main Office) Wednesday, Feb. 17, through Monday, March 15, 2016
Extended Grace Period and Voting: (At Early Voting and Election Day Polling Places) Monday, Feb. 29 through Tuesday, March 15, 2016
Early Voting Period:
- These dates ONLY at Kane County Elections Main Office: Thursday, Feb. 4 through Monday, March 14, 2016
- At Designated Early Voting Polling Places: Monday, Feb. 29, through Monday, March 14, 2016
