Exec Committee Recommends Lower Speed Limit Near Kaneland High School
The Kane County Board Executive Committee today (Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015) recommended a resolution that would allow Kane County to lower the speed limit on a part of Keslinger Road near Kaneland High School.
The idea is to reduce the speed limit between Meredith Road and Dauberman Road from 50 mph to 45 mph, which officials say will make a better transition to a 35 mph school speed zone.
Kane County’s Division of Transportation has evaluated the speed limit on Keslinger Road — also known as Kane County Highway No. 41 — from 500 feet west of Meredith Road to 500 feet east of Dauberman Road and is recommending that the maximum speed limit on this segment be 45 mph.
The resolution moves to the consent agenda of the Nov. 10 Kane County Board meeting.
Kaneland High School is located at 47W326 Keslinger Road, Maple Park.
APPROVING ALTERATION OF SPEED LIMIT – KESLINGER ROAD, KANE COUNTY HIGHWAY NO. 41
WHEREAS, the County of Kane through its Division of Transportation has caused an engineering and traffic investigation to be conducted on Keslinger Road, which is a highway not otherwise under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the Transportation Committee of the Kane County Board has reviewed the results of said investigation and has recommended the alteration of the existing maximum speed limit of fifty (50) miles per hour as set forth in the Illinois Vehicle Code, (625 ILCS 5/11-604), so as to be both reasonable, safe and proper.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Kane County Board, that pursuant to the Illinois Vehicle Code, (625 ILCS 5/11-604), the maximum speed limit on Keslinger Road in Kane County as described hereunder shall be forty five (45) miles per hour as indicated in the schedule as set forth below.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this Ordinance shall be effective upon the approval of the Kane County Board as provided by statute and the posting of signs giving notice of said forty five (45) miles per hour maximum speed limit.
