Wind Advisory For Veterans Day and Beyond
Displaying you flag on Veterans Day might have just gotten a bit more challenging.
The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for Kane County and the surrounding area that starts late in the day on Veterans Day and continues through Thursday evening.
The advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, through 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12,
Southerly winds are expected to gust up to 45 mph Wednesday evening then shift west on Thursday morning, with gusts up to 40 mph. Winds are expected to slowly diminish Thursday afternoon, the NWS reports.
“Driving may be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles,” the NWS says.
Minor tree damage is possible, and light-weight objects will be blown around.
What’s a Wind Advisory?
A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph to 39 mph or gusts between 45 mph and 57 mph are likely. Winds this strong can cause minor property damage unless precautions are taken. Motorists should be alert and use caution.
