Aurora Police have secured felony charges through the Will County State’s Attorney against a 16-year-old Aurora boy in connection with the Friday crash that claimed the life of a 49-year-old man and seriously injured his 15-year-old daughter.

The boy has been charged as a juvenile with single counts of reckless homicide and aggravated street racing. He is being held in the River Valley Justice Center in Joliet after turning himself in to Aurora detectives Thursday (Dec. 10, 2015). The crash occurred around 10:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at the intersection of Eola Road and Shenandoah Drive on Aurora’s Far Southeast Side.

The boy, whose name is not being released because of his age, was charged in connection with the crash in which Charles D. Siebel Jr., of the 2400 block of Biltmore Circle, Aurora, was killed; and his 15-year-old daughter injured. Authorities believe the juvenile was drag racing with a 20-year-old Plainfield man when the crash occurred. The 20-year-old has not been charged. Detectives from the Aurora Police Investigations and Traffic Divisions say the investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible.

Both the 16- and 20-year-olds were allegedly southbound on Eola at extremely high rates of speed when the juvenile, who was driving a 2011 Dodge Charger, slammed into Seibel’s 2004 Toyota Highlander as he was turning left onto Eola from the stop sign at Shenandoah. The 20-year-old man, who was driving a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, was just south of the other two vehicles at the time of the crash.

Both Siebel and his daughter had to be extricated from the Highlander by Aurora Fire Department Personnel. Siebel was pronounced dead at around 3 a.m. Dec. 7 at Rush Copley Medical Center. His daughter has since been released from the same hospital. The 16-year-old suffered minor injuries and the 20-year-old refused medical treatment.
