Four local businesses have come together to lend a hand to an international charity organization located in the heart of Kane County.

The Label Printers recently announced the results of its employees’ annual end-of-year fundraising drive for Mooseheart Child City and School — an organization chosen by employees, who also organized the fundraising programs.

TLP’s employees decided what kind of fundraising programs to have, and then participated in them in a variety of ways — from eating at restaurants that offered programs such as Chili’s “Give Back,” to homemade desserts sold at break times, to donating prizes for raffles and a silent auction.

In addition, the company partnered with national chains Chipotle and Jimmy John’s, and local, family- owned Harners Bakery and Restaurant for a program the company dubbed “Meals for Mooseheart.” Each of these restaurants donated food for lunch or morning break time, and employees purchased the donated meals.

Gina Ries, quality assurance manager at TLP and fundraising volunteer wanted to be sure that the “Meals for Mooseheart” restaurants got special thanks.

“I went over to Chipotle around 11 a.m. to pick up the food they were donating, and they told me that I was on their schedule at 3 p.m., and I didn’t know what to do! But they were just great — they jumped right in and got our order filled in time for me to get the food back to the plant before lunch. They really did a great job for us.”

One hundred percent of the proceeds of “Meals for Mooseheart”, the 50/50 Raffle, Bake Sale, Bean Bag Toss, Gift Raffle, Silent Auction and Cash Donations went to Mooseheart, and all of these activities resulted in the highest amount ever for one of the company’s holiday fundraisers.

George Tommasi, director of human resources for The Label Printers, said his is always amazed at how willing employees are to give back to the community.

“And they drove the entire process,” he said. “They selected the charity, brainstormed fundraising ideas, volunteered to work the events and recruited coworkers to participate. In less than one month, almost $3,400 was raised in our most successful fundraising drive ever. This is truly an incredible group of people committed to helping others, and we look forward to finding out how this contribution helps the Mooseheart community!”

Lori Campbell, chief of operations of the company, pointed out that The Label Printers is committed to giving employees the space and the support that they need to be good corporate citizens.

“All we have to do is encourage them to come up with ideas and give them the incentive to implement those ideas successfully,” she said.”We’re very pleased to be able to support worthy organizations through the volunteer fundraising and collection drive efforts of our employees.”
