Sheriff’s Detectives Seize 157 Pounds of Cannabis Near Farnsworth and I-88

Kane County sheriff’s detectives made arrests in what they believe to be a major drug transaction Tuesday, filing charges against four men for cannabis trafficking and confiscating 157 pounds of suspected cannabis.

According to a news release issued Thursday by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, sheriff’s detectives were in a parking lot in the area of Farnsworth Avenue and Interstate 88 in Aurora at around 1 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 8, 2015), when they observed a suspected drug transaction take place.

Detectives waited for the suspected transaction to finish, then stopped a Jeep vehicle as it drove away, the press release said.

Sheriff’s officers located about 157 pounds of suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of about $1.4 million in the Jeep.

Deputies took into custody the driver of the Jeep, Luis Garcia, 53, of Bolingbrook, and detectives took into custody three other suspects, all from Mexico: Ruben Guillen–Hernandez, 55;  Jamie Guillen-Hernandez, 63, and Sergio Delgadillo-Alvarez, 42, the press release said.

All four subjects are being held at the Kane County Adult Justice Center, and a $2 million bond was set for each man. The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the following charges against the four men:

  • one count of cannabis trafficking
  • two counts of unlawful manufacture/delivery of cannabis
  • one count of unlawful possession of cannabis

The charges against the four men are not proof of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the state’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
