Sushi and Soda? St. Charles Store Owners Celebrate Disney Birthday With a Unique Fundraiser
A couple of store operators in St. Charles are celebrating Walt Disney’s birthday in a unique way — and turning it into a fundraiser at the same time.
Store owner Robert Brescia and store manager Deanna Brescia are inviting the public to celebrate Walt Disney’s 114th Birthday at their St. Charles location with Rocket Fizz and O-Zell soda from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6.
O-Zell soda was originally started by Elias Disney, Walt’s father, and Brescia’s Rocket Fizz stores in St Charles and Glenview are stocked with this hard-to-find soda that harks back to a time when there were no limits to soda-making imagination.
The four varieties, according to a recent press release, include:
- The creamy tropical twist of Pineapple Whip!
- The sophisticated fruity sass of Cherry Jubilee!
- The rich nostalgic fizz of Root Beer Float!
- The velvety elegance of Vanilla Dream!
Owners are calling the event the “Rocket Fizz St. Charles Festival of Fun,” and it includes Disney legends, arts and crafts and magician Adam Sean, whose performance is “guaranteed to BLOW YOUR MIND,” according to the release.
Rocket Fizz St. Charles is located at 301 W. Main St.
Following the festival, O-Zell Soda is inviting any and all interested parties to a fundraising event and “culinary indulgence” they call, “The O-Zell Soda Pairing, Cocktail Party and Walt Disney Birthplace Fundraiser.”
The event takes place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Shakou St. Charles, located just west of Rocket Fizz.
Again, the press release speaks for itself:
“At a tantalizing quartet of sushi-and-soda stations, you’ll enjoy a substantial appetizer selection. Partake of more potent portables at the bar! And you’ll be able to bid on rare Disney memorabilia and one-of-a-kind art pieces at a Silent Auction Table!”
Each guest will also receive a special collectible O-Zell pin.
Tickets are $45 per person, and both ticket sales and the silent auction proceeds will benefit the Center for Early Childhood Creativity at the Walt Disney Birthplace, a registered 501 © (3) non-profit. Tickets and more info are available at www.OzellWDB.eventzilla.net.
