Jeffery Austin From ‘The Voice’ Returns For Concert in St. Charles

The voice from St. Charles is returning for a special concert in his former hometown.

Jeffery Austin, who finished in the top four finalists of “The Voice” television show on NBC, will perform at  7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at the Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St., St. Charles.

“A St. Charles ‘favorite son’ and hometown hero, Jeffery Austin killed (it) as a finalist on Gwen Stefani’s team on ‘The Voice,’ ” the Arcada said in a recent media release. “Jeffery returns to the Arcada Theatre that sent him off to Los Angeles before the finals! It’s a one-night-only experience as Jeffery performs the huge hits he did on the show with a few other surprises before he embarks on a whirlwind career path!”

Austin appeared in every show of “The Voice‘” Season 9. He was the winner of an “instant save” in the week’s semi-finals and performed several times on the final show, including a rendition of “Lean On” by Major Lazer,. He has performed with many big-name singers, including Madi Davis and Tori Kelly in the final show alone.

After Jeffery’s father passed away when he was 9 years old, Jeffery grew up with his mom, grandparents and brother. During that time, Jeffery pursued music in high school and auditioned for all the school musicals. At 16, with the support of his family, Jeffery came out after years of trying to hide his sexuality.
