ChildBlossom Yoga is hosting a special kids-only event from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at the Prana Yoga Center in Geneva, and a portion of the proceeds will support CASA Kane County.

Children ages 6 to 14 are invited to take part in this inaugural event with a minimal donation fee of $10 and try the child yoga class.

ChildBlossom Yoga involves poses, breathing techniques, guided imagery and games, all designed to develop confidence, balance and attention, while promoting relaxation and mindfulness. All children can benefit, but the classes are especially beneficial to those that experience anxiety, depression, mood swings, ADHD, ADD, or are on the autism spectrum.

“I was never really relaxed until I joined this class, said Callie, a 12-year old who had taken the class.

“It is super fun,” another student said. “I love coming. I’m more flexible now!”

Research has documented significant positive effects in children’s physical, neurological, educational and emotional growth through the practice of yoga. Other benefits include self-awareness, emotional regulation, confidence, relaxation, balance, creativity, attention, social interactions, and increased strength and flexibility. There are some fantastic teachers who have put themselves forward for this amazing event, some of which even did their yoga teacher training in India!

Tom Klyczek, a parent, is 100 percent behind the program.

“ChildBlossom yoga provides a great opportunity to strengthen our kid’s minds and bodies. I feel this class is key in any child’s upbringing,” he said.
