Florencio Rivera, 33 (d.o.b. 5-1-1982), formerly of the 600 block of Concord Street, Aurora, and most recently of Wooddale, today agreed to a sentence of 61⁄2 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony.

Circuit Judge Donald M. Tegeler accepted the plea.

Prosecutors presented evidence that between March 1, 2012, and June 1, 2012, Rivera sexually abused the victim, whom he knew. Rivera later admitted his actions to authorities. The victim was younger than 13 at the time.

In addition to the prison term, Rivera must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.

According to Illinois law, Rivera is eligible for day-for-day sentencing. He receives credit for at least four days served in the Kane County jail.

The case was prosecuted by Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Andrew Whitfield.
