It’s Prom Time! Get a Fabulous $15 Dress and Help 2 Great Causes
Want to be part of a real Cinderella story?
High school girls throughout Kane County can look fabulous at prom, save hundreds of dollars, get pampered by “fairy godmothers” and support two great causes — the Elgin Junior Service Board and the YWCA — all at the same time, when they visit Cinderella’s Closet in Elgin.
Prom-goers who shop for gowns from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Cinderella’s Closet, 220 E. Chicago St., Elgin, will be able to purchase any dress in the shop for a suggested donation of $15. The store also is filled with accessories, purses, shoes and cosmetics, while supplies last.
“Many of the dresses are new with tags, in sizes ranging from petites to plus-sizes,” said Alana Freedman of the YWCA. “At the event, the girls are greeted by ‘Fairy Godmothers,’ who serve as their personal shoppers as they select from hundreds of beautiful dresses.”
Freedman announced an exciting addition to this year’s boutique: prom-related vendors, including florists, hair stylists and make-up artists.
Donations of gently-used prom dresses are also being accepted, especially in sizes 16 and up. Donations must arrive no later than March 11 in exchange for a $5 coupon toward a dress at Cinderella’s Closet.
To be eligible for entry into the boutique, girls need to be a current high school student with proof of enrollment. Any girl presently enrolled in high school is welcome to attend Cinderella’s Closet.
