Motor-Vehicle Crash in Huntley Takes Life of 56-Year-Old
A 56-year-old resident of an unincorporated area near Gilberts was killed Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, after his sport-utility vehicle crashed near the intersection of Route 47 and Jim Dhamer Drive in Huntley.
According to a Kane County Coroner’s Office news release, coroner’s deputies responded to the intersection and pronounced the driver, David Flight, 56, of unincorporated area near Gilberts, deceased at 5:13 a.m. at the scene.
The Courier-News reported that Flight’s 2002 Honda CR-V was traveling west on Freeman Road about 4:49 a.m., when the vehicle hit a light standard, then rolled into the intersection.
According to a report on publicsafetyreporter.com, Huntley police believe that Flight was the driver in a second single-vehicle accident, this one involving a 2003 Saturn that was found damaged and abandoned off of Freeman Road about a half-mile east of the fatal crash.
Media reports said Flight was in possession of keys to both vehicles but was was not the owner. The Honda CR-V and the Saturn were registered to the same address, and the owners told police the keys to both vehicles were missing.
An autopsy was performed on Feb. 16, 2016, by the Kane County Coroner’s Office, and the preliminary findings indicate multiple injuries caused by a sport-utility vehicle striking a fixed object. Toxicology samples have been sent to a forensic laboratory, the Coroner’s Office release said.
At this time the cause of death is pending further investigation and toxicology findings.
