Rush-Copley Opens Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center
Rush-Copley in Aurora has opened Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center.
That’s big news, and good news, for cancer patients and their families in Kane County, because services and support are free of charge and available to anyone impacted by cancer.
“For most people, facing this disease is filled with fear, indecision and often, treatment plans that can be physically and emotionally demanding,” Rush-Copley said in a news release. “Waterford Place provides comforting, understanding and fortifying resources for those in any stage of treatment or survivorship — along with their loved ones.”
Barry C. Finn, president and CEO of Rush-Copley said the hospital has made significant clinical strides with its Cancer Care Center by offering the latest in diagnostic and treatment options.
“But there is more to a cancer diagnosis,” he said. “That is why we collaborated with physicians, nurses and clinicians along with patients and families to create this very special space for anyone that is impacted by a cancer diagnosis.”
Waterford Place offers an array of programs, including:
Information and Education – Programs focus on the practical, from what to expect from treatment to how to balance practical concerns such as finances, working, health insurance as well as the emotional side of the disease.
Support Programs – Support groups at Waterford Place are safe spaces for participants to share information while also receiving support in managing difficult experiences and celebrating successes along the way.
Wellness – Nutrition, movement and yoga help to build strong bodies to aid in the recovery during and following treatment. The programs emphasize a healthy lifestyle that includes physical activity and plant-based nutrition.
Mind, Body and Spirit – programs are designed to help reduce stress and improve coping in the midst of a cancer diagnosis. Mindfulness, meditation, expressive arts, relaxation therapies and the healing garden offer powerful ways to help participants cope, find comfort and heal.
The Salon and Spa – The Salon & Spa at Waterford Place is home to American Cancer Society® programs that are hosted in our unique salon including monthly sessions of Look Good Feel Better® and the area’s largest Wig Boutique. Also available to those diagnosed with cancer are massages and oncology facials by licensed providers.
Waterford Place is located at 1310 Waterford Drive, near the intersection of Route 34 and Waterford Drive, adjacent to Rush-Copley Medical Center.
