There’s a new chief deputy in town at the Kane County Treasurer’s Office.

At Tuesday’s Kane County Board meeting, Treasurer David J. Rickert announced the appointment of Maria Herrera as the new chief deputy treasurer.

Herrera has served in the office for 20 years, starting out as a customer service representative.

Rickert said her “strong work ethic, attention to details and ability to work with customers and staff” led to several promotions, first as a collection processor and then to collection administrator. He added that Herrera’s experience in a variety of office functions made her the logical choice to replace retiring Chief Deputy Della Winckler.

“I have full faith and confidence that she will serve the county admirably in this new capacity,” he said.

Herrera is a 37 year resident of Aurora and was born in Zacatecas, Mexico. She obtained her United States citizenship in 1996.
