What Should Kane County Look Like By 2050?
- Editor’s Note: The Feb. 24 CMAP open house was postponed due to weather. It is now set for 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, and this story has been updated to reflect the date.
What should Kane County — and the entire Chicago area, for that matter — look like by 2050?
The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning wants to know, and it’s holding an open house from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, to launch the development of an entirely new regional comprehensive plan.
CMAP is located at Suite 800, Willis Tower, 233 S. Wacker Dr., Chicago, IL 60606. Please note that entry to Willis Tower requires a government-issued photo ID.
Because the event is an open-house format, you can arrive or depart any time that morning. It will feature a rotating series of brief remarks by CMAP leaders including board chair Gerald Bennett and Executive Director Joseph Szabo, which will be offered twice, at 10 a.m. and again at 11 a.m.
The event format will enable in-depth conversations between staff and attendees.
Just drop in whenever it’s convenient, then connect with next plan team members who will have materials describing research and analysis that is under way
“We want to hear your ideas early and often in the process of defining the plan’s objectives and strategies. After getting your event ticket ‘punched’ at each of four topical stations, you can leave with a new poster and button to signify you are part of the effort to develop the region’s next comprehensive long-range plan,” CMAP said in an email invite.
And before, during, and after the event, weigh in on Twitter with your own #2050BigIdeas.
Please email your thoughts or outreach leads to Jane Grover at jgrover@cmap.illinois.gov.
